Why Edible Landscapes?

Edible Landscape aims to transform as much cultural landscape as possible into biodiverse, edible, and livable spaces. Landscapes that nourish… us as people, animals, the soil, and future generations.

Places where we can once again form a creative relationship with our natural environment and together build a valuable, ecological future.

As a landscape designer, I’m happy to guide you from A (apple) to Z (Ziziphus) in designing and establishing your food forest or agroforestry system. Whether it’s a homestead, agricultural land or public space – every landscape is unique and requires a customized approach.

Together, we arrive at a landscape that fully aligns with your wishes, needs, and dreams and aligns with the power of the land.

What is a food forest?

A food forest is a designed ecosystem filled with edible and useful plants, modeled after a natural forest. By mimicking the layered structure of a forest edge, a vibrant and productive cultural landscape emerges where every species plays a role.

Trees, shrubs, perennials, climbers, and root crops strengthen one another. This creates a system of synergy that is largely self-sustaining in the long term.

A mature food forest is a place of abundance:
  • Nuts, Fruits, Berries
  • Herbs, Salads, Mushrooms
  • Roots, Tubers, Medicinal Plants
  • Reef wood, Firewood, Paint Plants
  • Honey, Juices and More — All Year Round

Why choose a food forest?

A food forest not only provides food, but also contributes to ecological recovery, biodiversity and climate resilience. It is a place of peace and meaning — for people, animals and soil.
Advantages at a glance:
  • Ecological and regenerative (CO₂, soil, water, air)
  • Commercial opportunities: chefs, education, camps, accommodation...
  • Efficient and meaningful maintenance
  • Large and varied selection
  • For generations to come
  • Aesthetic and surprising

Here’s what our satisfied clients are saying.

Josse designed our food forest. He listened carefully to our wishes and ideas, discussed everything with us, and contributed his experience and knowledge. The result is a beautiful design. The tree list he prepared – including where to find each species – was extremely helpful. There are so many options, and you often need to consider cross-pollination; thanks to his clear overview, everything became much easier.

Thank you, Josse!

The collaboration with Josse exceeded our expectations. What began as a simple request for some advice evolved into a holistic, professional, and highly practical approach to the detailed design of the food forest, the various borders around the house, and even the full development of the property. In addition, Josse focused on the costs and benefits of the entire project and provided numerous tips on purchasing and planting the plant material.
